The most amazing year race related to BTT (mountain bike shed) will take place in one of the most wonderful and sweeping areas of Madeira island. Everything is getting prepared into detail. All is being organized thinking on you.

In order for you to enjoy a real emotion you won’t need to be a competitive athlete. The approachable mountain bike route, always downward, will take you to the limit of your technical and physical capabilities. Be aware. There will be surprises around every curve.

You will have, for sure, a very different day apart from all you have already imagined. By the end, even if you did not get the result that you expected, surely you will want to repeat it.

The 1st edition of AVALANCHE RAPOSEIRA emerged in 2008 and already in the same year we became with a number of 72 registered athletes. Since then, the event has being growing with an average of 20 athletes per year, thus becoming a really landmark in the BTT.

By this time, it holds the Regional record and 203 was the number of athletes (among some international) in the competition in 2013 and in 2014.

The XIV edition of the Avalanche Raposeira 2022 takes place in a fully drawn in soil track with 5.72 kilometers in total timed area/ terrain. It is obligatory that each athlete must meet two descents. There will be one qualifying descent in order to make the grouping for the starting point of the final race descent and another for the XIV edition of the Avalanche. In total, the journey comprises maximum four descents. It is important to mention that this edition will also be subject to some changes and improvements, especially in the starting point area. Everything will be set so that you may enjoy a real thrill and have a plenty full day with lots of adrenaline. You don´t need to be a competitive athlete, the route is approachable and surely will be in charge to take you to the limit of your technical and physical abilities.

The organization will try to gather, with the support of the various sponsors, a set of prizes for all the Avalanche Raposeira 2022 participants. On this 14th edition anniversary we will award prize money for the first top three winners and we will return the value of the registration to the tenth place. This Prize Money will also be attributed to the female category. These values will be defined in detail on the particular race regulation and it will be approved by the end of November 2022.

There will also take place a dinner held to all competitors in action.

18H30 – Dinner (taking place in the civil Parish School) named (Escola Básica 1º, 2º e 3º Ciclos /PE Prof Francisco Barreto)

*Note: It is required the presence of all athletes in the event at 3.30pm. In the starting point all athletes will be aligned based on the time they have achieved in the qualifying descent.
Athletes, who do not meet the team's instructors who will control all event, at the real starting point, will be automatically penalized.
